I found myself standing face to face with none other than the legendary Michael Lee. It was a clash of the titans, a darting showdown for the ages. But alas, my friends, fate had a different plan in store for me. Michael showed off his darting wizardry, leaving me in awe of his skills. 🎯🔥 But here's the kicker – this is also the season when the legend of D.A.D (Discord After Dark) was born! 🌙💥 For those who don't know, D.A.D is where DPFL players gather to chat about darts and life. It's like a virtual darting party, with hilarious conversations and shenanigans that will have you rolling on the floor with laughter. With 25 to 30 people joining in, things can get wild, folks! 😂🎉
And speaking of wild, during one unforgettable D.A.D session, Tim Wey and Chris Clark threw me a curveball. They asked if I'd be interested in joining them as a commentator. Now, I may not have the voice of an angel, but I jumped at the chance! 🎤😁 So there I was, commentating matches and injecting my unique brand of humor into the DPFL universe. It was a blast, my friends, a pure darting comedy show! 🎙️😜 Now how about the one time I busted a 185 playing Brian Mercer in King of the Hill!! That was a laugh for the ages. I think I might be the only person that thought he did that! Or the one time I thought you could take out a 159!! We all know math is not my strong suit! Maybe one day I will finish the 3rd grade math book Tim sent me! I think I'm on page 10!
But wait, there's more! Behind the scenes, I became the master of all things administrative. Updating stats? Check. Being an admin for multiple divisions? Checkity check! I ran DPFL tournaments, helped players navigate the sometimes treacherous waters of Dart Connect, and even tackled customer service like a champ. I was a darting superhero, cape and all! 🦸♂️💪
Now, let's fast forward to the wild adventures I had on the road. First up, the 35th Virginia Beach Classic, where I finally put faces to the players I've been competing against online. It was like a meeting of long-lost darting pals, and the camaraderie was off the charts. The Nashville tournament followed suit, and let me tell you, it was a country music-infused darting extravaganza! 🏖️🎶
But hold onto your flights, my friends, because DPFL's first live event was the stuff of legends! Picture this: the world-class Reunion Resort in Kissimmee, Florida. It was darting paradise, with players from all corners of the globe coming together to showcase their skills. The energy in the room was electrifying, the darts were flying, and the memories made were nothing short of epic. It was like being in a darting wonderland! 🌟🎯
And let's not forget the 50th Annual Blueberry Hill Tournament in St. Louis, where I had the chance to match more faces to the names I've come to know and love. It was a family reunion on steroids, with laughter, friendly competition, and enough darting talent to make your head spin. What a legendary event it was! 🥳🍇
But I didn't stop there, my friends. The DPFL crew took on the infamous Las Vegas Open, where I had the opportunity to meet a bunch of West Coast DPFL and dart players. The excitement was palpable, the darts were flying, and the memories made will last a lifetime. Las Vegas sure knows how to throw a party, and we embraced it with open arms (and open bar tabs)! 🎰🌴
Now, I won't sugarcoat it – the last 2.5 years have been a wild ride. Juggling a 40-hour work week at the day job and DPFL darts at night isn't for the faint of heart. It's been a whirlwind of long hours, sacrifices, and plenty of caffeine. But you know what? I wouldn't change a thing. The laughs, the triumphs, the sheer joy of being part of the DPFL family – it's all been worth it. 🕒💼
Through DPFL, I've met incredible people I never thought I'd have the chance to encounter. It's been a journey of personal growth, hilarious moments, and lifelong friendships. I've seen the darting world through a whole new lens, and it's been an absolute blast.
