In the early months of 2020, Chris Clark and I, Tim Wey, laid the foundation of DPFL. Our motivation was straightforward; the steel-tip darts scene in Tampa, Florida, was going through a dry spell and needed a revival.
 

Our brainchild, DPFL, was an in-person singles league conceived with the players at the heart of its existence. We envisioned a league where each player had an equal shot at showcasing their skill, devoid of any spotlight bias. As such, our inaugural singles league was divided into two divisions, based on PPR (60+ and 59 and below). Though it started modestly, with only 20 players registering, the seed for a vibrant darting community was planted.
 

Our trajectory took an unexpected turn when the COVID pandemic struck, forcing local businesses and our play venues to shut their doors. But adversity is often the birthplace of innovation, and this proved true for DPFL. With the in-person scene at a standstill, we pivoted our focus towards the online darting world.
 

Our maiden online tournament, a simple affair with 16 players and no webcam scoring verification, managed to pique interest across states. Recognizing the potential, we implemented webcam scoring verification for subsequent tournaments, and the response was phenomenal.

Buoyed by this success, we expanded our vision and created the DPFL Online League. Equipped with a webcam and a scoring device, players from around the globe could now join in the fun, even as the world grappled with the pandemic. As more tournaments and league sessions rolled out, our reputation spread far and wide. From humble beginnings as a small, in-person league, DPFL has since blossomed into one of the most prominent online dart leagues globally.
 

Today, our guiding principle remains unaltered. DPFL continues to be a player-centric league committed to providing a fair and competitive platform for all. And we're not stopping here! As the world gradually recovers from the pandemic, DPFL is set to host live events with lucrative payouts in 2022.
